We had a great time staying at the Scotsman Inn. Even though it was only for one night, it was a memorable time. The hosts are lovely people and Sandy has a great sense of humour! He also provided us with suggestions for dining and sightseeing. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the decor were cozy and elegant. The king bed was comfortable. Everything felt very boutique. Sandy was always transparent with what the Inn offers. We booked through booking.ca and everything we needed to know was clearly stated so there were no surprises. If we visit Pictou again, we will definitely stay here again!

I can't say enough good things about my stay here. What made it special were the owners Sandy and Cathy, they welcomed me like family. From the welcome drink on the patio chatting with them and the other guests to inviting me out to dinner with them as I was travelling solo. They have put a lot of love and money into renovating the inn and it really shows in the interior decor and the antique furniture and decor items that fill the inn. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, I even had a huge 4 poster bed. Breakfast was also special, served family style in the formal dining room by Sandy in his kilt, another chance to socialize with the other guests, which is great as a solo traveller. They also have a large garage called the Bike Shed where I could park my motorcycle. Highly recommended, I would definitely stay again if I am back in Nova Scotia.

Sandy and Cathy were wonderful hosts. They treat every one of their guests like friends, inviting us to come out to the lovely back deck for a welcome drink and a visit with the other guests. We found this a very nice and special touch. This inn is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and the dining area where breakfast is served is perfect! Sandy's white glove service is impeccable. While the inn does not have an elevator (messaging the hosts are very open about communicating) each floor of the inn has everything you need along with a fridge and coffee maker in the shared area. Also, we just happen to like stairs. :) The inn is walking distance to everything you would want as a tourist and a short drive to beautiful Caribou Beach. Sandy was also gracious enough to make a dinner reservation for us in nearby New Glasgow at Tilly's Kitchen which was also amazing. When Sandy recommends a place to eat, listen to him - he has great taste! We highly recommend this as your place to stay in Pictou and we will be back!

This is what 5-star hospitality is all about! Sandy & Cathy have knocked it out of the park! Exceptional interior cozy but elevated antique design, pristine cleanliness, the friendliest professional service ever and a scrumptious breakfast to send you on your way. Very comfortable, large rooms with luxurious amenities. Adorable back deck on which you can share a glass of wine with other guests. Sandy serves breakie in his kilt - worth the price of admission right there! They have thought of every creature comfort, down to the fancy French L'Occitane products in the bathroom and the USB plugs by the bed. One word of caution - stairs - so if you are on the top floor, you must be able to hoof it up there with your luggage. We highly recommend The Scotsman!!!

A bit of Scotland in Nova Scotia. A unique experience in a small fishing village. No elevator and no restaurant. A classic UK breakfast including fine English china.

We had the time of our lives staying at the charming Scotsman with hosts Sandy and Cathy. A minute’s walk from the Pictou waterfront with lots of shops and restaurants nearby, well-appointed rooms and a lovely patio to socialize with fellow travellers if you wish, breakfasts of locally grown blueberries with freshly baked croissants and recommendations of custom itineraries thanks to Sandy’s wealth of knowledge…could have stayed much longer! (L’Occitane body & bath products are a personal favourite and were a treat to find here - thank you, Cathy!)

Fabulous place to stay, Sandy and Cathy made my family feel right at home while sharing their heritage with us. All of us left with a fire burning in our Scottish roots. The breakfast was lovely, the rooms were incredible. Sandy made reservations for my family around town at two delicious local restaurants. Even with a shifting party size, Sandy made everything easy for us. I was enamored by everything about this establishment, and would recommend staying here.
